Additional reported applications (for the relevant formats) include: in vitro blocking of ligand binding2. LEAF™ purified antibody (Endotoxin <0.1 EU/μg, Azide-Free, 0.2 μm filtered) is recommended for functional assays .

Recommended Usage:

Each lot of this antibody is quality control tested by immunofluorescent staining with flow cytometric analysis. For flow cytometric staining, the suggested use of this reagent is ≤0.25 µg per million cells in 100 µl volume. It is recommended that the reagent be titrated for optimal performance for each application.

Description:

TWEAK is a 27 kD protein also known as tumor necrosis factor superfamily member 12 (TNFSF12), TNF-related weak inducer of apoptosis, and CD255. TWEAK is a type II transmembrane protein expressed on a variety of cell types. A soluble form of TWEAK is produced by proteolytic processing. TWEAK binds to the TWEAK receptor, FN14, to induce apoptosis, NF-κB translocation, and promote angiogenesis and endothelial cell proliferation. It has also been implicated in the induction of inflammatory cytokines.

Structure: TNF superfamily member, type II membrane protein and secreted (after proteolytic processing); forms homotrimer, 27 kD
Distribution: Widely expressed; induced on activated CD4+ cells
Function: Weak inducer of apoptosis in some cell types, activates NF-κB, promotes angiogenesis and endothelial cell proliferation, induces inflammatory cytokine production
